what have we done?

graduation day, teacher asks,
            "class, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Doctor."
            "Lawyer."
                        "Businessman."

                                                "Rich."
comes the unanimous reply.


teacher remembers middle school,
            "class, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Rockstar."
            "Athlete."
                        "Actor."

                                                "Famous."
they'd answered.


remembering further back, elementary school,
            "class, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Firefighter."
            "Astronaut."
                        "Veterinarian."

                                                "Important."
most had replied.


preschool, first day,
            "class, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

                                                "Happy."
